The Story

About Us

The name Xaa, a Sesarwa name for fire, reflects the commitment of the Company to the first people to settle in Botswana, Basarwa.

Xaa Safaris is a mobile tourism service provider. The name Xaa, a Sesarwa name for fire, reflects the commitment of the Company to the first people to settle in Botswana, Basarwa. Fire serves various roles in the lives of Basarwa from being a symbol of presence to domestic purposes, as well as being central to social gatherings. Basarwa continue to gather around the fire to pass on knowledge which has transcended the test of time. Thus the name Xaa epitomizes our commitment to serve all our stakeholders just the same way xaa has been instrumental to the livelihoods of the first settlers of Botswana.

We operate fully serviced mobile safari tours with custom-made routes to and around major tourist attractions such as Okavango Delta, Moremi, Chobe, Savute, Nxai, Makgadikgadi Pans, and the Central Kalahari Game Reserves. Other areas of interest such as Tsodilo Hills will be covered upon request. On safari, you will stay in designated camping sites in national parks, and private reserves and campsites.

We offer a Fully Serviced Safari which is a nonparticipation safari, where the Xaa Safaris team will carry out all the necessary camp chores to enhance your safari experience.  The tents are large (3mx3m) canvas dome tents with camp beds and bedding provided.  Each tent has an ensuite bush toilet and shower. The camp will be moved by another van ahead of the guests’ van and will be set up upon guests’ arrival at the new campsite.  This maximizes the time guests spend on game viewing and other activities of interest.

Drives will take place in the morning and afternoon including wildlife viewing, from game viewing 4×4 or boat, with a licensed guide with a satellite phone, medical and mechanical equipment on board.

The guides will share information on wildlife, endangered species, African culture, photography and tourism in Botswana.  Routes followed will concentrate on the road and track network in areas of best game viewing.

The professional guide will give you a pre-activity brief (either on arrival or before the game drive) covering the following safety aspects: behaviour on the vehicles, general respect for the wildlife with regard to noise, disturbance and photographing the animals and litter disposal.

Take your next journey with us.
